The largest and most picturesque island of Estonia - Saaremaa invites music lovers to the opera festival every July since 1999. The festival is held at the Medieval Episcopal Castle of Kuressaare, the capital of Saaremaa. The Episcopal Castle, which holds as many as about a thousand spectators, has become one of the best-known West-Estonian tourist sites and the acoustics of the castle’s yard is more than ideal for romantic operas.

In 2010 the opera festival collaborates with Moscow Academic Music Theatre named Stanislavski and Nemirovich-Danchenko and presents world famous operas La Traviata, Madama Butterfly, Un Ballo in Maschera. Kaleva Travel offers opera packages with accommodation in various Kuressaare spa hotels.
