A Medieval Merchant's Tale

You are taken back in time to 1528 to explore and learn about Old Tallinn, sample medieval music and drinks, and meet one of Tallinn's medieval merchants, the generous Lüdeke von Oyten (1508 - 1560). The guide and actors will take you to meet a mysterious monk, a sophisticated druggist, medieval musicians, and members of the Brotherhood of Blackheads Guild. You will see that legends and old traditions still live on in the unique places you will be taken to:

  • The magnificent House of the Brotherhood of Blackheads, an extraordinary 600 year-old organization of unmarried German merchants.
  • Mysterious Dominican Monastery, established in 1246, a well preserved and very unique place full of medieval aura.
  • Town Hall Pharmacy. One of the oldest, still functioning pharmacies in Europe where you will taste a mediaeval beverage, prepared since 1467.
  • The Town Hall, the most significant and well-preserved architectural monument in Tallinn and in all of Northern Europe.

Spirit of the Town Wall and Turrets
Spirit of the Town Wall and Turrets

On this tour our guests are introduced to medieval life as it once was along the walls and turrets of the old town. You will be lead by Johan Supher who was the Alderman of Tallinn in 1458-1467 and Burgermeister in 1470-1494. Johannes Supher leads the group as it visits several of the authentic turrets which still encircle the old town. Our guests are able to see a wide variety of medieval defensive architecture built during the 14th century including embrasures, deep and narrow stairs, gun powder cellars and living quarters. Johan Supher introduces the guests to other historical inhabitants of the wall including a mediaeval nun who healed the wounded, a man jailed for having too many wives, a purse thief and tower watchmen. Hear their true stories and learn about medieval life. The tour allows guests to see fighting scenes and other surprises along the walls.

  • Authentic turrets built during the 14th century include embrasures, deep and narrow stairs, gun powder cellars and tower watchmen's living rooms.

Soviet TV Tower Tour
Soviet TV Tower Tour

The group is taken to the TV tower in an authentic Soviet bus. On the way, Soviet soldiers/militia conducts a sightseeing tour in Tallinn.

In the bus, participants enjoy entertainment and small surprises typical of the Soviet Union: participants prepare for passport control and fill out papers, answer questions, etc. Participants stand at attention on the square and a soldier reports to the commander who makes a speech and delivers a medal to a guest while the Soviet hymn is played. At the gate, participants undergo inspection before entering the TV tower.

There are two packages available, the enhanced and basic package.  Both packages have the same route but the performance differs. In the enhanced package, there is a Ukrainian folk band and a visit of prison included.


Tour to Patarei Sea Fortress and Prison
Tour to Patarei Sea Fortress and Prison

Place for those, who are interested in sea fortress with international importance. Also possibility to get acquainted with a prison, which was founded in 1919, but represents now severe prison of the Soviet times.
Season: all year (indoor).
Location: 10 min drive from Tallinn Old Town.
Duration: 3-5 hours

After arriving to the prison gates and becoming acquainted with sea fortress – the story of the building activity - the guests will walk to the sea, where the beautiful view to the places of the historical defense buildings and harbours is seen. The “prisoners” will be transported to the prison facilities where the official registering in administrative department will take place followed by stationing into the “stable”, taking photos, taking fingerprints and stationing prisoners into transit chambers. The prisoners will be taken over to the life sentence department and stationed into cells, introduced rules and reservations in prison. Prison food, interrogation, walking in walking boxes will follow. The prisoners will be taken to the room for execution by shooting followed by reading of he sentence and execution. Finally the prisoners are called to the director’s office, where every prisoner gets a dossier, composed for him or her. Now the prisoner gives a written promise not to do anything crimal ever again. Freedom!

During the adventure complete security is granted and you have the possibility to leave the game any moment and take the side of jailers.


Orientation game: Treasure hunt “Looking for the Spirit of Tallinn's Old Town”

Its an exiting and adventurous game, where the participants have the opportunity to see the most interesting sightseeing places and hidden spots of the Tallinn’s Old Town. At the same time discovering the true inside of this historical town by solving puzzles and getting gifts that are distinctive to Tallinn.

After getting the instructions and rules of the game, the group will be divided into smaller teams. Then every team gets a camera, a map, the first clue and then the adventure may begin! The game is exiting because the teams have to follow the special clues which will lead them the way and also give a very good overview of the town than any other guided tour. This thrilling orientation game will be long remembered through the photos and vivid memories that the teams got from various places on their way through centuries old beautiful town.

Supplementary: candle making, coin making, paper making, soap making, wood burning.

Unique Estonian Party
Unique Estonian Party

Traditional Estonian party, which flexibly incorporates social intercourse, energetic activity and authentic information about the Estonian customs and traditions, lively, entertaining performance and enjoyable music. The guests will be involved in the folllowing activities:

  • Spirited musical greeting produced with the Estonian musical instruments – the shepherd´s horn and harmonic. Arriving guests will hear the shepherd´s horn, so they can find their way to the party area following it. When the guests gather together they will be greeted by harmonic.
  • Humorous "speech" from evening leaders and ceremonial welcoming-shot. The first and probably the most important part of the Estonian Party is the beginning of the party. Specially – drinking the welcoming shot! There is the funny ritual related to this action!
  • Traditional background music. Breaks for rest and dining are filled with the Estonian folk music.
  • Spectacles. Short pantomimic pieces performed by evening leaders. These pieces of pantomime are based on the Estonian animal fairy tales and funny stories. The scenes are humorous, thrilling and easy to grasp.
  • Funny trials of strength. Attractive and exciting popular strength tests performed either alone, in pairs or in a small team. They suit perfectly for "warming up" the audience, because possibility of failure is totally excluded.
  • Next the guests can participate in the traditional Estonian singing-games. Round dances of very simple style danced to musical accompaniment or singing. They are amusing to join in and enjoyable to watch.
  • Introduction of Estonian musical instruments. Merry narratives about the origin of the Estonian folk music instruments. Samples of music played on different attractive musical instruments.
  • A party game. "Playing in Orchestra" – collective music-making by party guests themselves. Guests will be given an opportunity to try and play on various simple musical instruments. Singing in tune is of no importance.
  • Foretelling the future. Traditional foretelling, guests can simply watch or try their hand at it themselves. Throwing of the Estonian peasant's leather shoe “pastel“, folding up flax.
  • Closing words and traditional final-dance "sabatants", in other words "a taildance", which will gather everybody together in a friendly bundle.


Masters Town Tour
Master’s Town Tour

During this tour, guests visit medieval Tallinn Old Town workshops and craftsmen while listening to the guide's stories about Tallinn masters and guilds. It is an interactive tour where guests make souvenirs or sample from a historic delicatessen. Among others, the guests can be involved in the following activities:

  • Sculptor's tour. Join one of the most well known Estonian sculptors in his stylish atelier, and he will teach you about his craft. You'll be given a chance to show your hidden artistic talent when you have a turn at the sculptor's wheel.
  • Silk painter's tour. You are taken to a painting cellar where your host explains the history of the old town's art community. After an introduction to his craft, your host invites you to paint a silk tie or scarf for yourself.
  • Singer's tour. For those with musical interests, our musical tours introduce guests to Estonian song and dance-a cornerstone of Estonian culture. We will organize a medieval musical group or solo artist to perform a brief concert, after which you will join in singing popular Estonian songs.


Photo Chase

Photo chase on whels is an amusing orientation adventure which goal is to introduce the uniqueness and history of Tallinn in a playsome and genuinely fun way. To get the most out of the exploration trip, a new luxurious jeep with a Driver Guide is at your disposal troughout the chase.

You will receive a bunch of photos taken in Tallinn and a legend according to which the places on the photos can be found. You have to find your way to these locations, take pictures of them, and somehow manage to take on the role of a professional photographer when designing the composition of the photos. Sure, you have the legend to help you but wouldn’t it be fun to make your friends twist and turn in the most awkward positions…? You will be asked to use as much of your imagination and creativity as possible anyway, so why not tease you friends a bit to get the funniest pictures? All the photos will be presented to other teams at the dinner table.

To spice up the photo chase, you will also be taken to a tankodrome, where different challenging jeep activities lie in wait for you. Among other things, you will definitely find out what it is that a jeep is really capable of when trying to conquer the steep ascents and declivities. Have you ever driven a car with your eyes blindfolded? Well, you will get a chance to do it – according to the instructions your team mates give you, you have to complete a track we have prepared for you. In addition to this, there is much more waiting for you on the tankie…

All in all, the day out chasing photos is full of excitement, exploration and adrenaline. It is the best way to see and learn about the capital of Estonia and spend quality time among great company.
