About the ship:
S/V Blue Sirius was built from 1906–1907 in the village of Brekke in Risnefjorden, Norway. The elegant hull, with its straight top-to-bottom bow and the stern hovering over the water, is called the Brixham trawler. The Blue Sirius delivered salt from England to Norway. Later it was used as a fishing vessel.
In 1975 Hans Arnold brought the ship from Norway to Lübeck. Planning a long voyage to the islands of the Caribbean Sea, he rebuilt the Blue Sirius accordingly. In 1998 a new set of sails was provided. The whole electrical system of the ship was modernised, too.
In 2004 the ship was brought to Estonia. From 2012 the vessel’s activities are organised by the Blue Sirius Non-Profit Association that strives to ensure that the oldest ship in Estonia still in operation remains in fine condition.
