Christmas Jazz ‘Jõulujazz’ will warm the spirit!
Festival Jõulujazz 2011 offers from 24 November to 10 December 20 inspiring concerts in churches, clubs, and concert and theatre halls in six Estonian towns. Musicians from USA, Spain, France, Switzerland, Germany and many other countries will perform at the festival.
Tallinn 2011 welcomes you to Tallinn Month of Photography!
Tallinn Month of Photography is an international festival of lens-based art organised by the Union of Photography Artists in Estonia. Most of the programme of the Month of Photography will take place in October 2011 and consists of exhibitions and events that seek to explore the possibilities, limits and spatial relations of photographic media. www.fotokuu.ee
UltraMarine - Contemporary jewellery exhibition opens in Noblessner Foundry
UltraMarine jewellery exhibition will open next Friday, 7th October. There are works of 51 artists from Estonia, Europe, US, Australia and Asia, which will be seen in an exhibition space specially set up for the occasion in the former shipyard Noblessner district.

Viru Hotel and the KGB
A hotel as a cultural bridge and warehouse of historical stories – Estonia’s first hotel museum opens with ‘Viru Hotel and the KGB’. Visitors will hear about one of the more venerable hotels in Estonia and the role of the KGB in its history.
Tallinn Fashion Week celebrates its fifth year
On 14 September the most anticipated local fashion event Tallinn Fashion Week 2011 kicks off for the fifth year. The main programme of TFW takes place 14 - 16 September in the halls of Estonian Puppet and Youth Theatre with shows by local and international designers. The programme continues on 17 September with a workshop and reaches its culmination with a performance ’Kolmlõige’ /Three-cut/ in Luther Quarter, that presents creations by Liisi Eesmaa, Tanel Veenre and Aldo Järvsoo.
TFW2011 takes place under the helm of Estonian Association of Fashion Designers. Shows by well-known designers, exhibition of fashion illustrations, seminar and workshops will offer a ’full service’ to art lovers.
Tallinn Jazz Weekend 23 & 24 September
The best jazz groups in Estonia will be performing on 23 & 24 September as part of the showcase festival Tallinn Jazz Weekend, which will be working with the European Jazz Network (EJN) to bring in a large number of festival organisers, promoters and journalists from all over Europe.
Estonian bread day and autumn fair Sept 18
Bread has been the main provider of sustenance for Estonians throughout history. There’s even a proverb: ‘bread is the master of the house’. The word ‘bread’ and all its past glory has become a synonym for all Estonian food.
15th St Martin’s Day Fair Nov 10
The St Martin’s Day fair is the biggest handicraft and folk event in Estonia. Alongside acclaimed Estonian artisans, craftsmen from many European countries will be selling their wares.
130 artists will open their studios to pub
During five summer days in five districts of Tallinn 130 artists will open their studios to public to enable everyone to see where and how art is being created. Open Studios is part of the programme of European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011.
Tallinn 2011 opens a café on the sea and city installations on the shore
On Sunday 5th June during the family festival ’Culture Moves to the Seashore’ a café-bus will open on the floating Eco-Island in the Old Fishing Harbour. On the shore visitors can operate a poetry-machine and view city installations, including the world’s largest wind chimes.
Sasha Pepelyaev’s Dancing Tower moves to Tallinn
After performances in Turku in April "Dancing Tower" will rise into the firmament of Tallinn, European Capital of Culture in 2011. The ten-metre tower represents the core of humanity: a soul bursting with energy, creativity and dreams. It is also the first performance to take place in Tallinn's new cultural venue Katel.
Artland
Located between Tallinn city centre and the port, Rotermann Square turns into Artland Street art plaza each summer, where each week contemporary fine arts can be enjoyed without an auditorium or stage, in a spontaneous and uninhibited atmosphere.

Rooftop Cinema started it's second season
Rooftop Cinema (on aroof of Solaris Center) started it’s second season on Sunday 15th of May with the screening of the movie classic „Casablanca“ (1942) from the original 35mm strip.

Tallinn Treff Festival and the fusion of arts
From 28th of May till 1st of June the streets of Tallinn Old Town will become more than a tourist attraction. It’s this time of the year when Estonian Puppet and Youth Theatre celebrates the magnificent world of performing arts in the form of Tallinn Treff Festival in the streets and theatre venues of old town. Performers will be arriving from 18 countries around the world and give 150 shows during the five days of the festival.
The street programme will start every day from 12 at noon and finish at 4 pm. All street performances are free of charge.
Tallinn 2011 and stories of the seashore
Who wouldn’t like to listen to stories? Storytelling is one of the most primal expressions of culture and oral heritage the first vehicle of culture in time. On Sunday, March 20th, that is the world storytelling day, the year-long storytelling series of the Capital of Culture will start.
Writers, musicians, artists and actors will tell, paint, sing and act tales inspired by the sea, speaking of Estonia and its people. The stories will be short and long, modern and ancient, exciting and tragic; most importantly, they will all be genuinely Estonian-like.
NO99 Straw Theatre in Tallinn
NO99 Straw Theatre is the biggest event especially created for the Culture Capital year. It is an installation, a public space and a venue for cultural events. Straw Theatre is built on the Skoone bastion, next to the famous Old Town of Tallinn. It will be open from May to September 2011 and after that, it will disappear.
The Art Bus has started tours to the art and design spots of Tallinn
On 29 Saturdays, the Art Bus will drive the culture capital inhabitants and visitors to those places in Tallinn, which introduce the practical side of art and design and which are not that often visited. The aim is to expand the area of arts further away from the exhibition rooms and galleries that are situated in the city center.

Launched in early January of this year, the iPhone app version of the “Official Travel Guide of Tallinn 2011”, has already become quite popular. The app has been downloaded just under 3,000 times and continues to grow in popularity.
